The North Georgia Water Resources Partnership conducted a feasibility study of Nutrient Water Quality Trading in the Coosa River Basin. The project, partially funded by a Section 319(h) grant, was intended to both develop a working trading framework and identify one or more point-to-nonpoint source trade(s) that could be implemented to support the Lake Weiss TMDL. Nutrient trading was a recommended option in the Lake Weiss TMDL Plan. Major Tasks in the Coosa Basin Nutrient Trading Framework included:
Full Circle created quarterly newsletters for this project to keep stakeholders informed of the progress of the study, and encouraged the public to attend the meetings. Stakeholder meetings were held to gather feedback on the findings and options presented in the study results. Citizens provided suggestions on best practices and concerns regarding trading options, and learned of new innovations in nutrient trading.
